Eduard Pallejà, director of the Agbar Foundation, and Jacint Jordana, director of the Barcelona Institute of International Studies (IBEI) have signed a collaboration agreement between both parties through which the Agbar Foundation undertakes to support postgraduate training and research in the field of the environment and natural resource management.
Through this collaboration, the Agbar Foundation undertakes to support the organisation of the teaching and academic activities of the master's degree in International Development given by the IBEI. It will specifically focus on subjects specialising in international environmental management; the Institute's programme for visiting professors of international prestige; and the organisation of the IBEI's own research seminars as well as its researchers' participation in external research activities.
The collaboration will also serve to establish work synergies between professors carrying out research and teaching at the IBEI and Agbar's Water School and CREA (Water Resource Centre). This will allow participants from different programmes access to international strategy instruments regarding key and current themes.
The IBEI was founded in Barcelona, under the impetus of the CIDOB Foundation and the Catalan public universities in Barcelona's area of influence (UAB, UB, UOC, UPF and UPC). It is dedicated to postgraduate research and training in the field of the social sciences, with the aim of becoming a benchmark institution at European level for the training of professionals and scientific reflection within the framework of international studies. It offers training programmes of academic excellence, stimulating and generating competitive research that also draws the attention of academia from around the world.
